Telephone Interview Tips

  • Find a quiet place to take the phone call and ensure you away from all distractions choosing a place where you won't be interrupted.
  • Be prepared and make sure you have a pen and paper in case you need to make any notes.
  • Have the job description in front of you and ask any questions you might have relating to the job description.
  • We encourage open communication, so ask any questions related to the job, company, or the Dialect team.
  • Ask the interviewer to repeat the question if you're not sure what they're asking - it's perfectly fine!
  • We have all been through the interview process, so we understand it might be overwhelming. Be confident!

Preparing for your interview - 5 top tips

If you're invited for an interview with Dialect, here are some tips to consider before the interview:

  • Research - before the interview, spend some time researching our company, our solutions, mission and values. It helps you to answer any questions relating to the company but at the same time, it's an opportunity for you to ask any question.
  • Prepare a set of questions - at the end of the interview, we have an open Q&A session, this is your opportunity to ask as many questions as you have!
  • Prepare some examples from your experience to refer to in the interview - if you have worked in a similar position before, prepare some work examples, when you overcome a challenge, for example, and what were the outcomes. 
  • Don't be afraid to promote your skills and experience - highlight your strengths, skills and what makes you a good fit for this role.
  • Be yourself - we want to get to know the real you.



Video Interviews - technology checks

We conduct interviews both in the office or online, depending on your proximity. If the interview will be online, we have prepared top tips for you to consider before joining the interview, we will always ask you to have your camera on so we can properly meet you:

  • Check your internet connection - make sure your internet source is stable and allow you to join the interview with us. Think about a plan B such as a mobile hotspot source of internet if your connection is lost.
  • Test the technology - check if your headphones work and your camera and microphone are working properly.
  • Interview space - choose a quiet place with good light and no distractions around you.
  • Look to the camera, rather than the display - maintain eye contact it's important so try to look at the computer camera when you are talking.


Interview - what to expect?

  1. Find out about you as a person - a bit about your work experience, what you like to do outside of work and your spare time.
  2. Motivation - what motivated you to apply for this role and why do you want to work at Dialect?
  3. Experience-based questions - we want to make sure the role is a good fit for your experience and career aspirations and that we are the right fit for you.

  • Customer centricity - a moment when you showcased and delivered a customer centric solution.
  • Problem-solving - a challenge that you faced and overcame using your problem solving skills.

Competency-Based Questions - STAR Technique


We recommend the STAR technique for your Interview.

By following this technique, you can provide structured and compelling answers that showcase your competencies and experiences effectively:

  1. Situation -Set the scene for your interviewer: describe the background of the situation you were, provide details to offer a clear understanding of the scenario.
  2. Task - Explain the task or challenge that was involved and what was required from you. This step is crucial to clarify your role and responsibilities in the situation.
  3. Action - Provide details on the specific actions you took to address the task. Make sure to focus on your contributions and highlight the skills you demonstrated.
  4. Result -Conclude with the outcome of your actions. What was the result? If possible, quantify your outcome or highlight what you've learned from the experience.
